System requirements
What you need to run FLARE.
FLARE talks to MSFS 2024 over Microsoft's SimConnect SDK. If MSFS 2024 runs on your machine, FLARE will too — its footprint is intentionally tiny.
- Operating system
- Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045 or later) or Windows 11. 64-bit only.
- Microsoft Flight Simulator
- MSFS 2024 — Standard, Premium, or Premium Deluxe — installed via Steam, the Microsoft Store, or the Xbox app on PC.
- Runtime
- .NET 10 Desktop Runtime. The FLARE installer adds it for you if it isn't already present.
- SimConnect
- Bundled with MSFS 2024 — no separate download or configuration needed. FLARE communicates with the sim through Microsoft's official SimConnect SDK.
- Disk space
- ≈ 300 MB free for the desktop application and the local landing database.
- Memory
- Negligible additional RAM. The desktop app's working set sits around 150 MB and runs comfortably alongside MSFS.
- Display
- 1280 × 720 minimum for the FLARE desktop window. Designed for second-monitor placement so it never competes with MSFS for screen real estate.
- Internet
- Required for the one-time activation per device and for landing sync (sync is on by default and can be toggled off). After activation the desktop app keeps working offline for up to 14 days; reconnect within that window to refresh.
- Permissions
- No administrator rights are required for normal use. The MSFS Community-folder install runs in user space.
License & ownership
How your license works.
Concise, no surprises. Full text: Terms of Service · Refund Policy.
- Devices
- 2 concurrent activations included. Move between PCs by deactivating an old seat from the desktop app or from Portal → Licenses.
- Regeneration
- Up to 2 license-key regenerations per calendar month per license. Regenerating revokes the old key and deactivates every currently activated device.
- Transfer
- Submit a transfer request from Portal → Licenses → (open the license) → Request transfer. We review each request and, if approved, retire the old key and issue a new one to the recipient.
- Refund
- 14-day no-questions refund. The fastest route is the Request a refund button on your order in Portal → Billing; you can also email support@flaresim.io. Refunding revokes the license.
- Updates
- All future minor and patch releases are included for the supported lifetime of MSFS 2024 — at no additional cost.
